A Christmas in Martel, from December 13 to January 5, 2025

Martel, a picturesque little town in the Lot, is transformed every year into a truly magical place during the Christmas holidays. From the first days of December, residents and visitors are invited to discover a rich and varied program, which mixes local traditions and Christmas magic.

Christmas lights
The historic center of Martel is adorned with thousands of sparkling lights, creating a warm and magical atmosphere. The streets and squares are decorated with garlands, illuminated fir trees and scenes inspired by Christmas tales. These decorations attract both curious onlookers and families, who come to stroll through the city immersed in an enchanted atmosphere.

The Christmas Market
The Martel Christmas market is an unmissable event for all lovers of artisanal and gourmet products. In the wooden chalets set up on the central square, visitors can discover local creations, handmade Christmas decorations, as well as culinary specialties such as foie gras, cheese, local wines and sweet treats. This market is also a great way to support local artisans and producers.

Children's entertainment
Little ones are not forgotten at Martel! Creative workshops are offered to them to make their own Christmas decorations or to create personalized greeting cards. Puppet shows and Christmas stories are also organized to amaze young children, while immersing all spectators in the Christmas spirit.

Santa's visit
Santa Claus regularly makes appearances in different places in the city, to the great joy of children. He wanders the streets, distributes sweets and even takes pictures with the little ones. A magical moment that families look forward to every year.

Christmas concerts
The city also organizes concerts and choirs that perform the great Christmas classics. These musical moments, often free, are an opportunity to get together with family or friends to sing together and celebrate the joy of Christmas. The churches of Martel, particularly the majestic Saint-Pierre church, host performances of sacred music and Christmas carols that warm the hearts.

The living nativity scene
Every year, Martel sets up a living nativity scene, reconstructing the scene of the birth of Jesus in a traditional setting. Villagers dressed as biblical characters bring this nativity scene to life, offering visitors an immersion in the religious and popular traditions of Christmas.

The Christmas Hike
For those who want to combine physical activity with holiday celebrations, Martel offers a Christmas hike, allowing you to discover the winter landscapes around the city while enjoying the festive atmosphere. The walk usually ends with a mulled wine or hot chocolate to warm up the participants.

In short, Christmas in Martel is a magical time, full of joy and conviviality. With a diverse program and a festive spirit that permeates the entire city, Martel offers an unforgettable Christmas experience for all ages.
